For most pitched-roof PV jobs in the UK, yes. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 treat solar fitting as more than short-duration work, so a boarded platform with edge protection is the normal standard, not a ladder. Low bungalows or some flat roofs can use a tower plus edge protection after a survey. We spec only what the array and roof actually need.
Standard domestic access is typically up within 24–48 hours of a confirmed booking. Commercial and multi-elevation jobs are programmed so the scaffold is handed over before your crew arrives. Give us the install date as soon as you have it.
Domestic installs are usually days, not weeks: erect the day before, panels on, strike after commissioning. Quotes include a hire window so a weather slip does not blow the price. We agree the strike date with your programme, not the homeowner’s diary.
Yes, on the agreed day. Once your team has signed off, we strike, clear the site and leave the property as we found it. Dismantle is in the price so you are not chasing a second invoice.
Most installers subcontract a CISRS scaffolder rather than running an in-house gang. You can book us direct as your access partner, or we work under your quote. Either way you get one spec, one handover and one point of contact if the programme moves.
It depends on height, pitch, array size and how panels are lifted. A simple one-elevation domestic roof may only need a working lift at the eaves plus guardrails. Warehouses, both roof planes, or any job moving glass modules at height usually need a full platform, loading bay and often a stair. We survey against your layout, not a generic tower.
Yes. Lifts sit close to the eaves so crews are not over-reaching; platforms run past the array; we allow for 2.2 m modules, a loading point and, where needed, a gin wheel. Edge protection is there so your team can work to the perimeter, not stop short of it.
Every structure is tagged and handed over before your installers step on it. Statutory inspections run every seven days and after bad weather or any alteration. RAMS and insurance docs go with the job on request so your file is audit-ready.
That is core work for us. If a job is late, weather-bound or the previous gang has let you down, we mobilise emergency solar access so your crew is on the roof, not standing on the drive. Same CISRS standard, just faster.
Price follows height, elevations, ground, bridging (conservatories, drives) and hire length not a one-line day rate. Domestic one-elevation jobs sit at the lower end; commercial and three-storey work is surveyed. We quote erect, hire and dismantle as one figure so your solar price to the customer stays clean.
